Warner Bros India inks 3 film deal with People Tree Films

MUMBAI: Warner Bros. Pictures India has inked a three film deal with Mukesh Talreja and Nikhil Advani’s People Tree Films.

This pact covers the production and distribution of three films to be released by Warner Bros. The agreement was announced today by Advani and Talreja along with Warner Bros. Pictures India country head Blaise Fernandes.

The deal includes – Jaane Kahaa Se Aayi Hai staring Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ruslaan Mumtaz directed by Milap Milan Zaveri; Chandbhai to be directed by Nikhil Advani starring Akshay Khanna and Vidya Balan and Basra starring Akshaye Khanna to be directed by Navdeep Singh.

Jaane Kahaa Se Aayi Hai is a romantic comedy about a woman from Venus who crash-lands on Earth looking for love. She befriends a born loser who is extremely unlucky in finding love who helps her in her quest of finding true love. The music direction of the film is by Sajid and Wajid. The film in currently in production and is slated to release in summer of 2009.

Advani’s Chandbhai is an emotional story of how a struggling director transforms a rebel inmate of a remand home. It tells the story of how two characters change their life by facing their inner demons and embracing life and happiness in the process. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are the music directors of the film.

Basra directed by Navdeep Singh is a story of a spy and a cop’s lives intertwine in a dangerous game of espionage, betrayal and revenge triggering off from the deserts of Iraq and moving through the underbelly of Mumbai’s drug and flesh trade and finally ending at the powerful corridor’s of politics in Delhi.

“Both Nikhil Advani and Mukesh Talreja are dynamic creative individuals whose vision we share. We hope to have a long and successful association with People Tree Films in the future,” says Warner Bros. International executive vice president Richard Fox.

“It’s a pleasure to associate with People Tree Films after working with them for Chandni Chowk to China which has shaped up extremely well,” adds Warner Bros. Pictures India country head Blaise Fernandes.

“Each of these films belongs to a different genre. Jaane Kahaa Se Aayi Hai is a romactic comedy whereas Basra is a political thriller. Chandbhai is a film that has been close to my heart for a while now and I am glad to start this as my first project after Chandni Chowk to China,” says People Tree Films partner Nikhil Advani.

“We are proud to associate with Warner Bros for three more film after Chandni Chowk to China. We are looking at releasing Jaane Kahaa Se Aayi Ha in the summer of 2009, Chandbhai during Diwali 2009 and Basra will hit the cinemas at the end of 2009,” adds People Tree Films partner Mukesh Talreja.

Warner Bros India started its association with People Tree Films with Chandni Chowk To China, which is slated to release on 16 January, 2009. Warner Bros Pictures India has entered into a multi-picture deal with Soundarya Rajnikanth’s Ocher Studios, whichcovers production and distribution of live-action South Indian language films to be released by Warner Bros.
