MUMBAI: Warner Bros. Entertainment India is making its foray in Bollywood in 2008. The studio’s Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone starrer Chandni Chowk To China will release in October this year during the Diwali period. However, this film will not mark Warner Brothers’ debut in the space.
The company is readying two other movies – Saas Bahu Aur Sensex and SRK – for August and September release. Both these movies are medium budget niche comedy movies. In India, Warner Bros will be looking at exploring both big budget and niche movies.
Saas Bahu Aur Sensex stars Ankur Khanna, Tanushree Dutta, Kirron Kher and Farrokh Sheikh. It is directed by Shona Urvashi who has previously directed Chupke Se.
SRK, starring Vinay Pathak and Rituparna Sengupta, is directed by Ajoy Verma who has previously edited films such as Shikhar and Jai Santoshi Maa and has worked as an assistant director on Shikhar and My Wife’s Murder.
When contacted by Businessofcinema.com, Warner Bros Entertainment India country manager Blaise Fernandes said, "We plan to release the movie that is ready first."
However, Fernandes was reluctant to share further details and said an official announcement regarding the same is expected soon.
