Leading exhibitor Akshaye Rathi, took to Twitter to announce that he has received the threat letter along with a copy of the letter dated January 5, 2017. In a threat letter delivered to all exhibitors, Rakesh Shinde, Chattisgarh Shiv Sena head, has asked exhibitors in Durg and Bhilai to not screen Raees in their theatres, failing which they will be solely responsible for the consequences. The body of the letter asks all exhibitors to not screen any ‘deshdrohi’s film’.

When quizzed about this controversy to Shah Rukh Khan, he said, “I am not aware of it yet. But if there is something like that I am sure Ritesh Sidhwani, Excel Entertainment and Red Chilies will be looking into it. But as far as I am concerned, I have not received this news yet.”

He seems surprised at the news and it being tweeted. He concluded saying, “I am sure it will not be of concern and will get sorted out soon.”

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is slated to release on January 25.
