X-Men First Class grosses Rs 100 million in opening weekend

MUMBAI: Fox Star Studios’ latest addition in the X-Men saga has already made records of sorts with a weekend opening of Rs 100.2 million (Rs 10.02 crores).
 
The James McAvoy – Michael Fassbender starrer action flick is running to packed houses across India and has received the biggest opening for a non 3D Hollywood movie in 2011.
 
With dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu, X-Men: First Class has scored better than all Hindi releases that opened this week.
 
Registering the second biggest opening of 2011 for a Hollywood film in India, X-Men: First Class has also raced far ahead of all the other films that released this year, including Fast and Furious Five.
 
Fox Star Studios India CEO Vijay Singh said, “X-Men: First Class is an exceptionally well made film packed with a gripping storyline & splendid performances. We are glad that audiences from across the country are appreciating the film’s entertainment value and given the strong word of mouth coming from all centers, we are confident that the film will have an extended run.”
