MUMBAI: Yuvvraaj has put up a disappointing show at the box office. On Monday, the movie ran to occupancy of 20 – 25 percent at multiplexes. The movie’s opening was not very encouraging on Friday and Saturday’s numbers were not flattering either.
To make things worse, even on Sunday the movie didn’t even pick up and Monday afternoon saw a show cancellation at a suburban multiplex and at some other multiplexes 30 – 40 people attended the screenings of Yuvvraaj. But naturally multiplexes are displeased with Yuvvraaj’s performance at the box office.
"After God Tussi Great Ho, this is Salman Khan’s second movie which has performed so disappointingly. Yuvvraaj’s Friday business was much better than Sunday, which is a holiday. The movie is a disappointment," says a multiplex officer on condition of anonymity.
If sources are to be believed, some portions of the movie have been re-edited.
Fun Cinemas asstistant vice president programming Bhumika Tewari says, "The movie has only performed well in our small center properties like Ambala, Karnal and Panipat properties; even Ahmedabad did good numbers but only for the morning shows. However, the movie’s performance in metros and bigger multiplexes is not good at all."
Big Cinemas recorded occupancy of 35 per cent over the weekend. "Yuvvraaj has not put up a good show. Last week’s release Dostana has faired better over this weekend than Yuvvraaj," says Big Cinemas programming head Rajendra Singh.
