MUMBAI: After re-entering the film production business with two banners, Zee Motion Pictures has now firmed up its plans on the film distribution sector.
According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, Zee is said to be in the final stages of negotiation with Reliance Big Pictures for the domestic distribution of Abhishek Kapoor directed Rock On. The amount of this deal is said to be in the range of Rs 120 million (Rs 12 crores).
At the time of filing this story, Reliance officials and the film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani remained unavailable for comment. However, Zee Motion Pictures director production Deepak Sharma confirmed that the deal was in final stages of negotiations.
This apart, Zee has also acquired the worldwide rights of Bobby Deol and Priyanka Chopra starrer Chamku. Both Rock On and Chamku are slated to release on 29 August.
"Zee Motion Pictures has lined up as many as 24 movies under production now, so distribution of movies is a natural extension for any entertainment company. Zee already has regional offices for distribution in Mumbai, Delhi, and South. We are now looking at setting up offices in other territories as well," informs Zee Motion Pictures’ Sharma.
A year ago, Zee also distributed Sunny Deol starrer Kaafila. Prior to this, they distributed E-City Venture’s English language movies.
