Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kamal Haasan, Mithun Chakraborty and Jaya Bachchan came together. It all happened in Kolkatta at the 19th Kolkata International Film Festival on Sunday, November 10, 2013.
As customary, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kamal Haasan, Jaya Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty lit the lamp, along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee was also present at this auspicious occasion. He was also the guest of honor. This ceremony took place at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. Other eminent guests who were present were Sabitri Chatterjee, Supriya Devi, filmmaker Sandip Ray, Dipankar Dey, music director Dwijen Mukherjee, Konkona Sen Sharma, singer Usha Uthup, Aparna Sen and former Indian football captain P.K. Banerjee.
Actors of the regional film industry Dev and Koel Mallick felicitated Amitabh Bachchan Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan also honoured him with a shawl and a metal cast memento.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seen chatting with Jaya Bachchan and SRK who was in a black-grey tuxedo and his signature ponytail. This ceremony was hosted by Bengali stars June Maliah and Jisshu Sengupta. The ceremony had some breath talking dance performances.
This eight day long carnival, featuring a hundred and eighty nine films from sixty three countries is likely to be an enriching experience for cinema connoisseurs.
Big B later in the day tweeted, “T 1289 -With SRK at the KKIFF … a grand and organised affair … Mamta Bannerji the CM of Bengal, so considerate”.
SRK too tweeted, “Kolkata has been fun & fantastic. Always a pleasure to get caught amidst the vortex of energy called Mamtadi. Holly, Bolly & Tollywood.”
