MUMBAI: It’s raining pink in the new song ‘Gulabi’ from ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. The lead pair from the song also seemed to have excessively fascinated with the colour as they made an appearance during the song’s launch.
Sushant Singh Rajput was dressed in a baby pink, striped shirt with denims, while Vaani Kapoor was dressed in a semi-transparent, rich pink shirt with tattered denims. Parineeti Chopra, who also stars in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, was conspicuous by her absence.
‘Gulabi’ is picturised on Sushant and Vaani Kapoor. The pair takes us on a journey of the pink city, blooming entirely in pink. From tinted pink-glasses, to puppets, to cotton candies, to flowers, everything in the shade of pink has been visually picturised.
The song is hummed by the brother-sister duo (Jigar-Priya) of music director Sachin-Jigar fame. Incidentally, Sachin-Jigar have also composed the music of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’.
While ‘Gulabi’ is reminiscent of a song (Aadha Ishq – hummed by Shreya Ghoshal and Natalie Di Luccio) from Maneesh Sharma’s own ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, it infuses strong cultural fervor and sweetness in its lyrics. Just like the naughtiness of the pink colour, ‘Gulabi’ is refreshingly naughty. The only difference from the earlier song ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ is that the ladies are different.
Sushant Singh Rajput gets to romance two ladies in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. Quite a bonus! Well at the song launch too, there were eyeballs on Sushant-Vaani bonding well. But just wondering, why did the lad bow down to Vaani? Touching her feet in respect?
‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, Vaani Kapoor is directed by Maneesh Sharma is slated to release on 6 September 2013. It also heads to the Toronto International Film Festival before its release.
