MUMBAI: As millions of Indians celebrated the romantic festival of Karva Chauth, among them was Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
Aishwarya, in typical traditional style, fasted all day for the health and long-life of her husband Abhishek Bachchan. The duo have been married for a few years now, and it was really nice to see Aishwarya, in traditional Punjabi style, complete the rituals of the fast.
Seen on the balcony of their family home in Juhu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cut a pretty, demure picture in a lime green salwar kameez. Her head reverentially wrapped with a dupatta, as she made her way to the terrace to break the fast, by sighting the moon.
Also seen were her in-laws, Bollywood ‘Shehenshah’ Amitabh Bachchan and his lovely wife Jaya Bachchan. Jaya too was dressed in traditonal gear, while Amitabh Bachchan wore a white kurta pyjama with a cream shawl draped over his broad shoulders.
Amitabh Bachchan even posted on Twitter about the way the Karva Chauth was performed in his palatial bungalow, “T 1198 -‘Karvachauth’ over … moon sighted, prayers done through the sieve, food eaten and water drunk by the wives ..dressed in fineries!”
“T 1198 -Abhishek out of country on shoot .. so face of husband seen through Skype, for Karvachauth by Aishwarya .. what times we live in !!”
