[tps_footer]The team of both Ship Of Theseus and Shahid got together to celebrate their success as both the films have been awarded with the prestigious National Award.
Meanwhile, Hansal Mehta‘s Shahid, won two National Awards, best Actor Award for Rajkummar Rao and Best Director for Hansal Mehta; Ship Of Theseus, directed by Anand Gandhi, won the National Award in the Best Feature Film category.
The team of Ship Of Theseus and Shahid celebrated this victory as they hosted a success bash at Club Royalty in Bandra. The bash was attended by Sidharth Roy Kapur, Kiran Rao, Anand Gandhi, Hansal Mehta, Soham Shah among others.
“All filmmakers are greedy. We (filmmakers) want everything. We want Box Office success, critical acclaim, awards and everything else. But I think when the audience likes a film, that appreciation is far more fulfilling, far more satisfying than any award,” Kiran Rao said at the party who was one of the first one to have supported Ship Of Theseus.
She further added,”I think both these films – Ship Of Theseus and Shahid have done that. They have touched the people. That’s the biggest reward you can get as a filmmaker.”
Ship Of Theseus, written and directed by Anand Gandhi, and produced by actor Sohum Shah. The film explores questions of identity, justice, beauty, meaning and death through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and an enterprising stockbroker.
Anand Gandhi conceived the story of Ship Of Theseus while he was nursing his ailing grandparents at the hospital. It was here that he developed stories addressing the idea of the self, change and death.
For Gandhi it was getting tough to find a producer for his film, owing to prejudices about the commercial viability of an Indian film, dealing in such subject matter.
Eventually, actor Sohum Shah decided to step in as the producer Ship Of Theseus and they say the rest is history.
