Other Bollywood celebrities present at the event were Zeenat Aman, Asha Parekh, Mithun Chakraborty, Rakesh Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Jeetendra, Anju Mahendru, Zoya Akhtar, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Poonam Sinha and Hema Malini.

The statue bore the memorable pose of Rajesh Khanna from his iconic film ‘Anand’ with balloons in hand.

Dimple Kapadia said at the event, “Kakaji was an enigma. He lived and died on his own terms. His contribution to cinema was unparalleled. He was a superstar. His courage, bravery and fearlessness even in the time of death can’t be forgotten. He was Anand and he lived like Anand. Life with him was like a rollercoaster.”

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar spoke about the statue and said that it was meant as a symbol of freedom and happiness. “The balloons signify that one should always be free in life,” he said.

The Rajesh Khanna statue will be placed alongside statues of other legendary stars like Yash Chopra, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor at the Walk Of The Stars at Bandra Bandstand Promenade.
