TORONTO: ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ is being hailed for being a romantic-comedy for the modern-day youth. This same movie has reached the famous Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where it had a screening, alongside ‘The Lunchbox’ which are the only two Indian films at TIFF.
The screening of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, called ‘A Random Desi Romance’ for the foreign audience, brought along its actress Parineeti Chopra, writer Jaideep Sahni and director Maneesh Sharma. Sushant Singh Rajput had to attend an emergency family issue because of which he could not attend, while Vaani Kapoor was held up in a shoot for her next film.
While the two men alternated between suits and safari suits in the formal colours of grey and black, Parineeti Chopra alternated between a blue gown and a white dress with black spots. Good choice, Parineeti!
The fans went rapturous for the Indian contingent of the film, with Parineeti Chopra even receiving gifts from some of her fans.
The film itself had mixed reactions, though mostly positive. Parineeti Chopra had to say the following about it. “When it comes to the diverse reactions to it (the film), I think whether or not you like the film depends on how you approach love and relationships in your own life.”
Let’s hope this exposure will lead to more Indian films reaching foreign shores and a larger audience.
