Ashok Chopra, a doctor who retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as a Lieutenant Colonel, died on June 10, 2013, due to cancer.
Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated the road on along with Priyanka Chopra‘s mother, Madhu Chopra and the actress brother Siddharth Chopra.
The street in question has been named as Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ashok Chopra Marg. Priyanka’s cousins Parineeti Chopra and Barbie joined her sister during this happy moment. Parineeti’s parents Reena Chopra and Pawan Chopra were also present.
“I don’t have words to describe anything. It’s a moment of pride for my family,” Priyanka Chopra told reporters during the inauguration of the newly named street off her residence.
“It means a lot to me. My dad was someone who has touched many hearts through his work. I am here today because I’m Ashok Chopra’s daughter. So thank you very much on behalf of my father today.” added a proud daughter.
According to Priyanka, the road is being named after her father because his community that he worked with, his friends and his family asked for it. [/tps_footer]
