Shobha was just 14 when Ravi (Jeetendra) Kapoor came into her life following a chance meeting on Marine Drive. Apparently, at this meeting the only interaction between the two was when he threw peanuts at her. Inspite of such a comical start, by the time Shobha was 16, she and Ravi were going steady. Although there were rumours of Jeetendra being infatuated with Hema Malini, he married Shobha in 1974. At that time she was working as an air hostess with British Airways.
