Aishwarya Rai’s Ten MUST WATCH Movies

Aishwarya Rai

Most Memorable Moment: In the song ‘Salaam’, Aishwarya draped in a gorgeous heavily embellished gold anarkali stops in front of Nawaab Sultan (Abhishek) to drop a soft ‘salaam’ to him. While the Nawaab was surely wrapped around her little finger from that moment on, so were we!

2006 saw Aishwarya in a completely different avatar. Playing the toned, sexy thief Sunheri in ‘Dhoom 2’, there are a lot of memories Aishwarya left us to dwell on. From her sizzling moves in ‘Crazy Kiya Re’ to her hot liplock with Greek God Hrithik Roshan, fans were left satiated.

Most Memorable Moment: The basketball ‘match’ that Hrithik and Aishwarya indulge in. It might not have been a very well played one, but Aishwarya’s coy, “Are you like… checking me out” was too cute to miss.

In 2007, two days after the release of her ‘Guru’, Aishwarya was engaged to her best friend and co-star Abhishek Bachchan. The chemistry between the two before their impending marriage, became a talking point for fans who flocked to the cinema houses to catch the couple in a married role. And they didn’t disappoint. Aishwarya played ‘Sujata’ the supportive, Gujarati wife of to-be business tycoon ‘Guru’ bhai based on Mr. Ambani’s life.

Most Memorable Moment: Aishwarya Rai dancing in the backdrop of a rainy Gujarat, wearing an itsy bitsy backless choli. She sang ‘barso re megha’, she swung in truck tyres, and jumped into puddles giving monsoon a new found joy.

Next making it on the ‘must watch’ list is ‘Jodhaa Akbar’. This one works for many reasons. Apart from her own husband and superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the other actor that Aishwarya shares great on screen chemistry with is Hrithik Roshan. Also, it looks like epic movies are MADE for the everlasting beauty, who performs her roles with much grace and dignity. Playing a Rajput princess who marries a Mughal King for creating peace in the Nation, Aishwarya looks gorgeous in the royal attire. She wear the heavy jewellery with the same panache as she holds the sword.

Most Memorable Moment: Once again there are many. The moment the mughal king meets the the first time, and only catches a glimpse of her ethereal beauty through the parda. The instance when she is angry with him and they indulge in a serious sword fight, and the beautiful long drawn out ‘night of consummation’ song sequence.

In 2008, she was back with husband Abhishek Bachchan and father in law Amitabh Bachchan, on screen with ‘Sarkar Raj’. While the movie, is centered around the two men, clearly Aishwarya makes her mark.

Most Memorable Moment: Throughout the movie its either Abhishek or Amitabh dominating the frame. Its in the end with two single words, that Aishwarya leaves you in awe of her. ‘Chai lao’ she says; The authority with which the words pour out show that now she had ascended onto the throne.

One of the few actresses to make it into Hollywood, that too in a BIG way, in 2009 Aishwarya played the antagonist in American detective comedy ‘Pink Panther 2’. Playing the sexy thief Sonia Solandres, Aishwarya presents herself to be the criminology expert. While Steve Martin as Jack Clouseau really makes you roll around the floor laughing, Aishwarya as Sonia does justice to the thief who stole the beautiful pink diamond.

Most Memorable Moment: The whole action and chase sequence when Jack reveals Sonia to be the thief is both hilarious and racy. When Aishwarya shoots the pink panther into a fine shimmering powder you really believe that she has succeeded in her mission!

Before mommy-hood, her last film for Bollywood was ‘Guzaarish’.

The winner of two Filmfare Best Actress award, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is also the youngest Indian actress to be conferred with the fourth-highest civilian award, Padma Shri, by the Government of India.

We hope the Birthday girl, does make a comeback to cinema soon, to give us a few more ‘Must Watch’ movies!
