Ayan Mukerjee Breaks His Silence On ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’

Ayan Mukerjee whose Wake Up Sid redefined the urban youth’s mores, is all set to go many steps further in his second film ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ (YJHD).

Revealing  facts about his new film Ayan says, “In some ways it is very different from Wake Up Sid. But in many ways it is still the same world as Sid. YJHD is about trying to understand the needs and feelings of someone in his 20s. It is about life, love, ambition, friendship, happiness and home.”

Ayan whose best friend Ranbir Kapoor stars in both the films , is widely believed to be paying a homage to the grand musical romantic comedies of Nasir Hussain in YJHD.

Says Ayan, “I am not particularly influenced by any filmmaker, though I’d hope that we’ve channelized some essence of the romance in Hindi films in general.”
While the chemistry between Ranbir and Konkona Sen-Sharma in Wake Up Sid was more guarded and out-of-the-box in YJHD Ranbir and Deepika whip up a stir of musical romance reminiscent of Ranbir’s father and mother Rishi and Neetu Kapoor in their heydays .

Ayan recently shot a song and some scenes in Kashmir, and he loved the experience. “The song went off very well.Choreographer Raju Khan and my cinematographer did a really exciting job.Kashmir was cold tough but a lot of fun.I like shootings where there is a sense of adventure accompanying the work. I hope we did some good work.”

While shooting in Kashmir Ayan, Ranbir and Deepika Padukone met Omar Abdullah.

Says Ayan, “We met him on a normal casual level. More than anything else it was a fun dinner.”

Now Ayan needs to shoot just Ranbir’s introductory song.

Informs the young director, “Now only Ranbir’s introductory song and 2-3 days’ patchwork remain. We’re still developing it.We haven’t really zeroed on in which way it would finally go.”
