MUMBAI: The recently concluded ‘Big Star Entertainment Awards’ night in Mumbai saw an amalgamation of filmdom’s biggest and brightest stars, scorching the stage with their electrifying Bollywood performances.
The winners, performers, audience and superstars present at the awards night all contributed to ensuring that this would be an awards function which would be remembered by one and all. Telecast on Star Plus on 31st December 2012, this awards night was doubly special because it ushered in the New Year: 2013 in style!
And so, we bring to our readers the highlights of this very starry awards function
First off, what took our breath away was the two warring factions in Bollywood i.e. Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s presence at the same event! Though the stars did not come face-to-face, they were present at the function at the same time. Salman, clad in a designer grey suit and light blue shirt, and later in a sequined police vest for his performance, literally stole the show. Shah Rukh Khan, in contrast, stuck to his usual dapper black-suited avatar, and was seen firmly seated by Abhishek Bachchan throughout the event.
Coming to the starry attendees, there were the usual suspects like Akshay ‘Khiladi’ Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Kirron Kher, Kabir Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana. The recipients of Big awards included Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kabir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and others.
The night witnessed some mesmerizing performances by the reigning King and Queen of Bollywood: Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Through their separate performances; he with his ‘Dabangg’ act and she grooving to her latest item song ‘Fevicol’, the duo had the audiences eating out of their hands. Directors Prabhudeva and Remo D’Souza too put in a high-octane performance from their upcoming release ‘AnyBody Can Dance’. Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Matru and ‘Bijlee’ aka Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma also performed a small on-stage act, to promote their film ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’, which releases next weekend.
