Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
It was perhaps the biggest movie of all time which not only brought together the Shehenshah and Baadshah of Bollywood together for the second time but also included the generation next with Hrithik Roshan. The latter had just debuted but became a rage then. No wonder that the movie did blockbuster earnings. Add to that the real life couple Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, the best onscreen Jodi ever Shah Rrukh Khan and Kajol and the budding romantics Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Need we say more?
Yuva
A political satire with intercutting stories, Mani Ratnam’s Yuva was inspirational. It was also remembered for its perfect casting. A mix of young and experienced, Yuva was the best film for the youth in that year. Abhishek Bachchan as the rowdy hitman, Ajay Devgn as the student leader and Vivek Oberoi as a guy with American dreams, Yuva was what India had become then. With Kolkata in the backdrop, the film worked brilliantly. Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor and Esha Deol were just the icing on the cake.
Omkara
Othello was a Shakespearean legend and when Vishal Bharadwaj thought of replicating it for Indian Cinema, he easily got the best cast. Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Konkana Sen Sharma, everyone just looked their part to the T.
Golmaal
Ajay Devgn seemed to had a thing for multi-starrers. When serious and intense films became a ittle too much for him, he ventured into comedy with his blockbuster mate director Rohit Shetty. The perfect comic timing of Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi and Tusshar Kapoor just blew audience’s mind and they were on the floor laughing.
Raajneeti
Prakash Raj likes to make larger than life films with real twists. Rajneeti was a spin-off on Mahabharat and convinced people that Ranbir Kapoor is not just a hero but is an actor too. Although Ajay Devgn’s small role was a dampener, it indeed was a treat. Katrina Kaif surprisingly did a good job too
Dhoom 2 and 3
Dhoom series has often being big but the second and third instalment have been the biggest ever. With Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan with Aishwarya Rai in the second and Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif in the third, the brand has only expanded. This is one multi-starrer that is slick and long lasting.
