A couple of years back, the audience witnessed collaboration between Salman Khan and director Kabir Khan for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which had taken an opening of around Rs 27.25 crores. The collaboration is back again with their film Tubelight, which is all set to release on June 23. Their latest epic, Tubelight, is highly likely to eclipse Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s record at the Box Office.
Set in 1962 during the Sino-Indian war, the drama starring Salman Khan, his brother Sohail and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, launches worldwide on June 23 during the Eid festival. Tubelight is going to witness the widest release across the country as it is releasing to 10000 screens worldwide.
Also, the question rises if Tubelight will break Baahubali 2 record (40.75 crore net), which got released on around 9000 screens worldwide? Well, Salman’s name is enough to draw the audience to the theatres. Besides, the emotional tale of two brothers is something the audience is looking forward in the family entertainer. But after all; the film will be riding on the star power of Salman Khan to bring the best opening numbers at the Box Office on day one.
Hence, one expects the collection to be above Rs 30 crore on its first day. But if the film hits above Rs 30 crore on the first day, it is then going to witness huge long weekend. The big holiday of Eid is falling on Monday, so Tubelight will witness four- day-long weekend at the Box Office.
There are sky-high expectations that Tubelight will break several records at the box office. Well, the India distribution rights of the period drama have already been sold for Rs 132 crore (excluding CI). So, this means that the film would break even in India at collections close to Rs 250 crore.
All said and done, the betting to guess the first-day figure for Salman Khan starrer Tubelight is on cards. Critics, as well as the audience, are highly waiting to see if Tubelight becomes the highest opener of 2017.
Produced by Salman Khan Films’ and co-produced by Amar Butala, Tubelight is a story about Salman as Laxman, a man-child who sets off to find his brother Bharat (Salman’s real life brother Sohail Khan). The supporting cast includes Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu and late Om Puri.
