MUMBAI: Sridevi. A dancing diva. An actress par excellence. A dutiful housewife. A loving mother. A Bollywood heroine.
These nomenclatures are more than apt for the gorgeous actress, who turns a year older today. Sridevi, who has given memorable performances in films like ‘Chandni’, ‘Mr. India’, ‘Nagina’, ‘Himmatwala’, ‘Lambhe’, ‘Chaalbaaz’ and scores of other films, has successfully returned to the silver screen after a gap of nearly 15 years.
Last year, Sridevi wowed her fans with her successful turn in ‘English Vinglish’, which re established her as an actress to reckon with.
She has also had a very successful stint in South- acting in several Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam films in her shining career.
Sridevi’s personal life has also been nothing short of fairy tale-like, with her marriage to film producer Boney Kapoor in 1996. She plays the role of a doting wife and loving mother to her two teenaged daughters- Jhanvi and Khushi.
Recently, Sridevi was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri by the Government of India.
