MUMBAI: Two films and two blockbuster statuses. This is what the Ranbir Kapoor – Karan Johar combination has managed to achieve. ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, both produced by Karan Johar, have soared Ranbir Kapoor’s career. And, the good association is set to continue as the director is set to direct Ranbir Kapoor, in what will be his third consecutive film with Dharma Productions.
‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, within a week of its release has soared into the 100 crore club. And while, this has certainly brightened up Ranbir Kapoor’s career and taken it to a new high considering this is his biggest opening for a film, there is more to watch out from Karan-Ranbir duo.
The actor is set to be directed by none other than Karan Johar and has been signed for his next film. The film apparently is a period love story set in Lahore during the partition.
This was what Karan Johar writing as a tribute to his father Yash Johar, and we wonder is this the same script.
A source close to the director says, “Yes. It’s true that Karan will be directing Ranbir and the film will go on floors early next year.”
Ranbir Kapoor is currently set to complete Abhinav Kashyap’s ‘Besharam’ and start work on Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet.’
Incidentally Karan Johar will also be seen playing a villain in ‘Bombay Velvet’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
Well, both Ranbir and Karan have shared a cordial association so far and with this third consecutive film with Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor surely seems to be Dharma’s blue-eyed boy.
