MUMBAI: Ekta Kapoor certainly knows how to grab eyeballs. This proved true at the ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ film launch, where we were witness to some seriously scary ‘Daayan’ i.e. witch action!

At first glance, the film’s actresses: Konkana Sensharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi arrived at the venue looking perfectly normal and un-witchlike, clad in their everyday casual wear. But soon, transformed by Ekta Kapoor’s brand of witch magic, the three lovely ladies transformed into very scary ‘Daayan’s for the film ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ launch.

Konkana, Huma and Kalki wore red and black ensembles, and on their faces was some incredibly eerie makeup, all to suit their role as a Daayan or witch for the launch. They sat through the entire launch dressed so, and interacted with the media in their scary avatar.

Even the film’s hero, Emraan Hashmi had a very scary makeover: from a casual jeans and tee, with a smile on his face before the event, to an all-black nightly ensemble and an angry yet terrified expression upon his visage. He even performed a magic trick on stage, suspending Kalki in mid-air! Some seriously spooky business, this!

The film’s maker Ekta Kapoor chose black for her outfit too, in line with the theme of the ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ launch. She even jested with a fake lizard, aiming it close to her mouth, as if appearing to eat it. Accompanying her were critically acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap (of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ fame) and Vishal Bhardwaj, director of celebrated films like ‘Omkara’ and ‘Maqbool’. Vishal’s latest film ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ is in theatres now.

‘Ek Thi Daayan’ is produced by Balaji Telefilms and releases next month.
