English Vinglish Sets The Japanese Box Office Ringing

sridevi main[tps_footer]Eros International’s English Vinglish continues its dream run in the overseas markets. Following its success in Hong Kong, Germany, Taiwan and Korea, the film has set the Japanese box office ringing with a bumper JPY  42,608,115 ( US $ 420,000 approx) and continues to run successfully in theatres.

 

With this announcement, English Vinglish which released on June 28th this year across 33 screens in Japan, also becomes the second biggest Bollywood film there after Three Idiots.

 

The grand premiere of the film held in Tokyo on May 27th this year was a huge success and was attended by its leading lady Sridevi along with First lady of Japan, Akie Abe and famous Japanese singer, Agnes Chan.

 

The buzz for English Vinglish in Japan began last year itself when director Gauri Shinde was invited to attend the prestigious Aichi International Women’s Film Festival in August 2013 for the screening of the film.[/tps_footer]
