LOS ANGELES: It could be a biggest career-changing move for actor R Madhavan. The actor has been roped in by director Simon West for a Hollywood film.
R Madhavan, with his debut in ‘Night Of The Living Dead: Origins’ joins the like of Om Puri, Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor. These stars have played major roles in hugely popular Hollywood films.
Madhavan’s role isn’t a miniscule one. Neither is the name Simon West too small in Hollywood. Simon West has directed the ‘Tomb Raider’ series with Angelina Jolie and ‘The Expandables 2’ amongst other acclaimed films.
With this collaboration, Madhavan’s set to have popularity in the west too. His previous role in ‘3 Idiots’ with Aamir Khan was highly acclaimed.
He spoke from Los Angeles, where the film is currently being shot and says, “I didn’t think this was possible by any stretch of imagination. West met me and said he liked my performance in ‘3 Idiots’, which was a major success in the US. He was cast hunting for his next project and said I’ll suit the part.”
Madhavan will play the role of an ex-marine in the film. The actor apparently was in the US nursing an injured knee. It was through a common friend that Maddy landed at Los Angeles and bumped into Simon West.
So much for a co-incidence! Looks like Madhavan is quite charged up with his new innings. In Bollywood, Aanand L Rai has signed him for the sequel to ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. Madhavan was seen with Kangana Ranaut in the film and will again be sharing screen-space with her in the sequel.
But for now it’s international calling for R Madhavan. Enjoy the experience Maddy. Very few get opportunities like this!
