MUMBAI: Farah Khan is slowly, but surely, completing the casting of her next film ‘Happy New Year’. Coming three years after her previous film ‘Tees Maar Khan’, but six years after her previous film with hitmaker Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’, Farah Khan is hoping to get her casting right with this film.
So far Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani have already been cast in pivotal roles in ‘Happy New Year’. The latest to join the film will be relative newcomer Vivaan Shah. The young lad debuted in director Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ in 2011, and has not been seen in any movies after that.
Vivaan Shah has terrific pedigree though. He is the son of veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah. His elder brother Imaad Shah has also already acted in films like ‘Dil Dosti Etc’, ‘Little Zizou’ and ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’.
Vivaan Shah was chosen from among more than 100 applicants for the role. A source who has seen his audition footage said, “It was outstanding. He has the freshness and spontaneity required for the role.”
Now the female leads for ‘Happy New Year’ are yet to be cast. It was recently reported that Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Ankita Lokhande, who is seen in the TV serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’ might bag the role. With new faces like Ankita Lokhande and Vivaan Shah, we hope to see a fresh voice from Farah Khan’s film too.
‘Happy New Year’ is set to start shooting in the first week of September, and should release towards the end of 2014. Do we see another Diwali release for Shah Rukh Khan?
