Bollywood directors like to touch various topics in their films; from biopics to horror films, viewers are served everything. Well, one of the renowned directors of Bollywood is planning to make a film on India’s 1975 Emergency, during then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s tenure.
As per sources, Fashion director Madhur Bhandarkar will begin with the shoot of the film based on National Emergency. This is a very critical topic as the 21-month period in 1975–77 is considered India’s darkest phase since Independence. The film is supposedly titled as, ‘Indu Sarkar’.
Madhur Bhandarkar is known for making realistic films that show the good and dark side of any industry or life. The Padma Shri recipient is known for winning National Awards for films like Traffic Signal, Chandi Bar, and Page 3. His last critically acclaimed and super hit film was Fashion in 2008, that garnered him a lot of awards. The lead of the film Priyanka Chopra even won a National Award for the best actress. In fact, Kangana Ranaut, who played a supporting role in the film also won the National Award.
However,Madhur Bhandarkar‘s last film, Calendar Girls, released in 2015, failed to impress the audience. So, hopes are high from his film based on India’s emergency.
