Is Grammy Questioning Lata Mangeshkar’s Legacy?

What a pity that both the Oscars and the Grammys forgot to commemorate the Late Shrimati Lata Mangeshkar Ji in their respective Memoriam segments. The Voice of the Millenium, Lata didi, who sang thousands of songs in 30 different languages, left for a heavenly abode in February at 92. She was honoured in the British Academy Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) In Memoriam segment last month.

However, both the Oscars last week and the Grammys this week kept her out of the portion honouring performers who departed in the previous year. Twitter is charged with rage due to this act of negligence.

“Such a shame @RecordingAcad forgot to honour Indian renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar who passed away last year,” one user said.

Lata Mangeshkar wasn’t the only well-known figure that was absent. Fans criticised the lack of Indian music artist Bappi Lahiri, Grammy-winning producer Phil Schapp, and Slipknot’s Joey Jordison, all of whom died in February.

The Oscars also led to disappointment in the fans of Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri and Bollywood star Dilip Kumar missing from the honors.
