MUMBAI: The world woke up to the most shocking news that Bollywood actress Jiah Khan allegedly committed suicide in her Juhu residence, late last night.

Police have said that Jiah Khan, formerly known as Nafisa Khan, committed suicide by hanging herself at her Sagar Sangeet apartment in Juhu, Mumbai. The 25-year old actress had recently shifted base to Mumbai permanently with her mother Rabiya, after being born and brought up in England. Revealed a source close to the actress, “She had been depressed for some time due to personal issues, but was keen on returning to acting soon. She was also meeting filmmakers regarding projects.”

Reportedly, she was suffering from depression and had even stopped using her twitter account. A fortnight ago, she tweeted,

The alleged suicide is reported to have occurred at night, at around 11 pm, and strangely no suicide note was found. A source revealed that actor Aditya Pancholi was one of the first to rush to Jiah’s house, upon hearing about the suicide.

Jiah Khan’s body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem.

According to the actress’ mother,  Jiah had recently travelled to Hyderabad for an audition. She did not do well in the audition and after coming back she told her mother that she did not feel that her career is moving forward. Reportedly, Jiah was quite disturbed since the failed audition. She did not meet any outsider after returning from Hyderabad.

The police said that the actor had met her cousin on Monday. Her cousin’s statement has also been recorded. He has said that she looked disturbed but behaved normally. Understandably, the entire industry is shocked to hear the news. Amitabh Bachchan, who worked with Jiah in her debut film, tweeted his grief,
