MUMBAI: The latest song from Rohit Shetty’s ‘Chennai Express’, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone has seemingly been made as a tribute to the inimitable Rajinikanth!
Apparently, Shah Rukh Khan was very impressed with the Southern superstar’s effortless style, and wanted to pay him a tribute in his latest flick.
This is not the first time that SRK has made a Rajinikanth reference in his films. Earlier, for his superhero film ‘Ra.One’, Rajinikanth made a special appearance, and Shah Rukh Khan was seen paying homage to him in the action sequence.
This time, a special song, titled Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi Dance), specially composed and performed by controversial rapper Honey Singh, has been commissioned to pay tribute to the legendary flair and style of Rajinikanth.
Shah Rukh Khan admitted that he could not refuse to be a part of song, because he (like everyone else on the planet) is a “huge fan of the global cultural icon Rajinikanth”.
Shah Rukh Khan graciously smiled and revealed: “Who isn’t a fan of ‘The Rajinikanth’? I had met Honey Singh and Bhushan Kumar five days back and heard the song, which is titled Thalaivar Tribute . I found it very apt for Rajini sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have.”
He then roped in his co-star Deepika Padukone too. “Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song because even she is a huge fan of him. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajinikanth Style!” Shah Rukh added.
Choreographed by Chinni Prakash, Lungi Dance is set to release soon.
