Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, known for mixing splendour with art in his creations, will be the opening designer at the Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers India Couture Week 2014, starting here July 15, 2014
“I have had a very good association with FDCI and I’m very privileged to be starting the India Couture Week again.” Sabyasachi Mukherjee said in a statement.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee feels that the new designers don’t present themselves well, but have a razor-sharp vision as well. He believes that youngsters today are giving him healthy competition.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee wants to make clothes that can be replicated for millions in local markets as he feels his collection is a hit when it is copied and seen across stores everywhere. This, he enjoys more than getting celebrities dressed, since it reminds him of his roots. He hails from a family of educationists and was never dazzled by glamour and celebrities.
Fashion Design Council of India‘s (FDCI) six-day fashion event will be held at the capital’s Taj Palace hotel.
According to Sunil Sethi, President – Fashion Design Council of India, stated “Sabyasachi’s designs spell sheer luxury and unabashed glamour, he is undoubtedly one of the best couturiers in the country, which makes him an apt choice for the opening show. His astute understanding of what a modern bride and groom want gives him an undeniable edge. I’m sure Sabyasachi’s creativity, energy and the grand opening presentation will make this show a memorable one. We wish him luck.”
The Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers India Couture Week 2014 will also showcase collections of designers like Rohit Bal, Manish Arora, Anamika Khanna and Anju Modi.[/tps_footer]
