[tps_footer]Bollywood film ‘Jai GangaaJal’ starring Priyanka Chopra and director Prakash Jha is currently facing some issues regarding the censorship with Censor Board. The film which was slated to be released with an ‘A’ certificate has now been given an ‘UA’ certificate after director Prakash Jha persuaded the CBFC and voluntarily agreed to go through the recommended cuts in order to obtain the ‘UA’ certificate. According to reports Jha did not want the film to get an ‘A’ certificate as it restricts the scope of the film as audience gets widely restricted.
Much like his previous films, ‘Jai GangaaJal’ will also have lots of violence, cuss words and content that might otherwise not be suitable for viewing of certain audience. Hence the film was originally given the ‘A’ certificate. However Prakash Jha who was adamant about getting the ‘UA’ certificate went on to follow the guidelines presented by the Censor Board in order to obtain the same. The verbal as well as physical abuse from certain parts of ‘Jai GangaaJal’ including the title track have been curbed down due to the same.
According to sources this will be the CBFC’s work procedure in the future. That is if producers aim at a specific censor certification they may edit the film voluntarily according to the censorial guidelines, or be willing to take an ‘A’ certificate if the content is found to be too explicit. Looks like 2016 will be hassle free and less controversial for the Censor Board which was received lot of backlash in 2015.
Prakash Jha’s move to obtain the film certificate almost two and half months before the film’s release comes as he intends to enter the National Awards race. ‘Jai GangaaJal’ is touted to be one of the most highly anticipated films of the year due to its storyline and also due to the presence of Priyanka Chopra. According to the latest update, the director is now taking up ‘Jai GangaaJal’ to CBFC’s Tribunal to appeal against the cuts.[/tps_footer]
