‘Ram Leela’ Postponed, Is SRK’s ‘Chennai Express’ The Reason?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Ram Leela' is no more being released on 11 October as per earlier plans. However stories that the film has been shifted to avert a clash with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Chennai Express' are dismissed by a source close to Sanjay Leela Bhansali(SLB) as “totally baseless”.

MUMBAI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s  ‘Ram Leela’  is no more being released on 11 October as per earlier plans. However stories that the film has been shifted to avert a clash with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Chennai Express’ are dismissed by a source close to Sanjay Leela Bhansali(SLB) as “totally baseless”.

Says the source, “First of all the ‘Chennai Express’ team is not even sure when they’re releasing. Secondly ‘Ram Leela’  and ‘Chennai Express’ both star Deepika Padukone, so it’s unlikely that either party would want to clash.”

The real reason for the postponement of ‘Ram Leela’ is Bakrid.

Says the source, “Earlier ‘Ram Leela’ was scheduled for release in the week of Bakrid. However the film’s co-producers Eros Entertainment didn’t think ‘Ram Leela’ was a film suitable for Bakrid entertainment. We could say, the title and the flavour of ‘Ram Leela’ are completely contrary to Bakrid. That is the only reason why Ram Leela’s release was postponed by a couple of weeks.”

The source  adds that the new release date in November has not been firmed in yet.

“But it won’t be a Diwali release, that’s for sure,” says the source.
