Sanjay Dutt Breaks Down: I Will Surrender

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is sentenced for a five year period in jail for possessing weapons illegally in a case linked to the 1993 Mumbai serial explosions, broke down at a press conference on Thursday and said that he will surrender.

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt who has been awarded five years of imprisonment for possessing illegal weapons in relation to the 1993 Mumbai serial explosions, broke down at a press conference, Thursday.

Dutt’s sister and Congress MP Priya Dutt silently stood by the actor’s side as he sobbed.

“I am a law abiding citizen. I respect the Honorable Supreme Court and I will surrender within the time given. I have not applied for pardon. There are many others who deserve it. Just let me be in peace till I surrender,” pleaded Sanjay.

Choked, the actor added, “I request the media with folded hands to let me be in peace. Right now I am shattered, I have a few days left and have a lot of work to do.”

Refusing to answer any other question from the assembled press, Sanjay said “My family is shattered. I want to thank everyone who supported me. I have a lot of work that I have to finish.”

The actor was spotted a few days ago rushing to finish all his pending shoots, starting with T.P Aggarwal’s ‘Policegiri’.

With only three weeks left now to his surrender, Sanjay Dutt called for this press conference at his residence with a view to request the paparazzi and hounding media to leave him alone. He concluded with a, “I love my country. I love India.”
