Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas Completes Twelve Years

shahrukh [tps_footer]Devdas completed 12 years and we say that we are definitely talking about the one that has Shah Rukh Khan playing a drunk and desolate lover while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked heavenly as Paro. One of the countless on screen adaptations of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya’s novel, Devdas was nothing new for the audience, but it worked for the songs, presentation and of course Shah Rukh Khan. Let’s find out what we liked the most in Devdas.

Shah Rukh, Shah Rukh and Shah Rukh! Although it would be too far-fetched to say that nobody could have embodied Devdas Mukherjee better than Shah Rukh, he did add a certain amount of charisma to the portrayal. Playing a drunk seemed like a cakewalk for him. Dialogues from Devdas were always famous but when mouthed by the Khan, it reached more corners than ever before.

The grandeur, the opulence, and the gorgeous women on the sets seemed majestic. Trust only Sanjay Leela Bhansali to make a shaheed out of a man who is to be blamed for what happened to him. Even his death was portrayed in a larger-than life manner.

The songs and the dances. Devdas would have been incomplete without those grand dance sequences. Be it Aishwarya Rai dancing with a diya or Madhuri Dixit going maar dala or both of them doing Dola Re Dola, every song a winner.

Madhuri Dixit of course. She was back with this film after a hiatus and it was amazing to watch her gyrate on screen.

And last but not the least Sanjay Leela Bhansali. There was nothing novel in the idea, but the way he presented made this oft rendered story something unusual and unconventional.

Bringing the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in one single film was a task in itself and he excelled in it.[/tps_footer]
