MUMBAI: Dabangg’ superstar and Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan was the biggest draw at the recently concluded ‘Golden Petal’ Awards here in Mumbai. The TV awards show saw B’town’s hottest hunk take to the stage, and enthrall the audiences with his entertaining act.
Salman was in his element as ‘Chulbul Pandey’, the affable, lovably corrupt cop from his superhit franchise film ‘Dabangg’. And with the sequel to ‘Dabangg’ nearly up for release, it was no surprise that we saw the man perform the latest hit songs from his upcoming release.
While Shah Rukh Khan was away in Marrakech, Morocco, and Aamir busy with his son’s birthday celebrations, Salman was the ruling Khan at this award function. He left no stone unturned to ensure that his performance was the talk of the town, and was the most unforgettable performance of the night.
While Salman was rocking the ‘Golden Petal Awards’, we uncovered some sections of the industry asserting that ‘Dabangg 2’ is just the same as ‘Dabangg’. Salman however, refutes these claims vehemently. “It’s not the same. We are not copying and giving you the same picture. It’s a different film.”
The superstar added, “’Dabangg’ was of a particular genre and now a similar genre film is coming out ‘Dabangg 2’. Consider part one (‘Dabangg’) as the one before interval and this (‘Dabangg 2’) as after the interval,” he said on the sets of ‘Bigg Boss 6’, where he and Kareena Kapoor launched the item song ‘Fevicol se’.
When quizzed as to why he has chosen to promote ‘Dabangg 2’ on ‘Bigg Boss’, Salman quipped: “I am the host of ‘Bigg Boss’. Wherever I get time and wherever the channel feels that ‘Dabangg 2’ promotions can be done, they do it.”
Salman’s ‘Dabangg 2’ is directed by Arbaaz Khan, and also stars Sonakshi Sinha. The film is slated for a December 21st release.
