NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee awarded the Padma awards yesterday, and Bollywood actresses like Sridevi and Sharmila Tagore were it’s prestigious recipients.
Along with cricketer Rahul Dravid and Sharmila Tagore, along with 54 other civilians were awarded Padma Bhushans, while Sridevi was given the Padma Shri award for her contribution to cinema and society.
Looking gorgeous in a pale pink and gold kanjivaram sari and matching chandelier earrings, Sridevi was regal, poised and elegant as she received the high honour from the President himself.
This is yet another feather in Sridevi’s illustrious cap. In addition to being a fabulous wife and mother to two teenaged daughters, Sridevi made her cinematic comeback last year with the critically acclaimed ‘English Vinglish’, directed by debutante director Gauri Shinde. She now has another prestigious award in her kitty, and we’re all so happy the lady has just grown from strength to strength.
Seen at the felicitation ceremony was her loving husband, producer Boney Kapoor and her two beautiful daughters, dressed in traditional wear.
She tweeted in a little later:
Felt proud to be wearing your creation Maggi, looking forward to be wearing many more. God bless, thank you. twitter.com/SrideviBKapoor…

Sharmila Tagore too looked radiant in a yellow sari, and was all smiles as she accepted the award from Mukherjee.
