Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is once again in the news and he may land himself in trouble for the illegal ramp he had constructed adjacent to his residence Mannat in Bandra. An NGO has accused the actor and stated that the construction was in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ)-2 norms. SRK’s house Mannat was in the news last year, when the BMC officials demolished the ramp outside his bungalow which was illegal after the officials got a complaint from the Watchdog Foundation.
The foundation now wants Khan’s bungalow to be seized by the Maharashtra Government. “We are fighting this case since 2013. The illegal ramp built by SRK was affecting our duties of lady of Mount Mary because this encroachment built by him is done on a 300 year old cement road. So 18 months after filing the complaint, BMC was forced to demolish this ramp. After the demolition of the ramp, SRK had to pay its charges of Rs 1.93 lacs,” reveals Nicholas Almeida of Watchdog Foundation.
He also added that when they went into the depth of his lease conditions, it was written clearly by the Collector of Mumbai that if Shah Rukh Khan or Gauri Khan violated any condition in the CRZ, then the lease is bound to be cancelled. He said that SRK had done illegal construction and that has been proved. So this condition was violated, and hence his bungalow has to be seized by the collector.
Almeida also revealed that the original name of Mannat was Villa Vienna. So according to the heritage law, one cannot change the name. If the name is being changed then he has to put both the names- the original name as well as the old one. He has even violated this law.
However, the close friends of the Raees actor call it a publicity gimmick by activists.
