Too Much Publicity Hurt Himmatwala: Tamannah

Himmatwala Main coverThey say, an actor is known by his last film. If it fares well, the person is hailed and if not, he or she is labeled a failure. It’s really harsh, but then that’s how this industry works.

Hence, when Tamannah was asked about the failure of her last film Himmatwala, she didn’t mince a word. “People perceive your failure more dramatically, then you perceive it yourself. In a career which is about ten years long, you have a few films in your list which haven’t fared well. So, for me Himmatwala not doing well wasn’t a big deal.”

Ask her, if too much publicity around the film hurt its prospects at Box Office and Tamannah nods in affirmative. “It definitely pulled it a notch down. When you create too much buzz around a film, it somewhere affects the film.” But she quickly adds, “There was so much negativity around it once the film came out. It was natural for the film to not work out.”

But Tamannah is really proud of Sajid Khan who accepted publicly that Himmatwala didn’t work. “He has completely revamped himself. He accepted that he would go back to his comfort zone. For me he is someone who has more faith in me than me. I look up to him as a person who can help me grow in my career and from whom I can learn a lot.”

Did Himmatwala’s no show affect her career? “I feel fortunate that despite Himmatwala not working out, Sajid Khan cast me in Humshakals and I also got to work in It’s Entertainment. They still had faith in my talent.”

Here’s wishing Tamannah all the best for a great innings in Bollywood.
