The year started with Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike crossing 100 crores easily and reached 244 crore in India. In February came Gully Boy as well as Total Dhamaal with Rs 134 and Rs 150 crores, respectively. In the month of March, Kesari crossed Rs 151 crores, in June Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat sailed at the box office with Rs 197 crore domestic collections. The same month, Kabir Singh became the highest-grossing film of the year so far with a collection of Rs 331.24 cr in India.

A month into the second half, Super 30 fetched Rs 150.43 crore in India. While the film is still running in some theatres, the final collection may see a slight increase in the numbers. This month has opened exceedingly well at the box office, with Mission Mangal and Batla House releasing on the same day. While the former has crossed Rs 107.56 crores in just five days, Batla House has reached to Rs 54.49 crores and with good word-of-mouth, it may touch Rs 100 cr club.

Even if they didn’t join the big three-digit order, there were projects that did well and almost got there. While Ajay Devgn-starrer De De Pyaar De made Rs 94 crores. Luka Chuppi at Rs 88 crores and Badla at Rs 87 crores were other big hits.

Interestingly, three of the biggest flicks this year, Uri, Kabir Singh have set the cash registers ringing without any superstar power.

The good days at the box office seem to be here to stay for the rest of the year, too, with Prabhas and Sharddha Kapoor’s Saaho, Nitesh Tiwari directorial Chhichhore, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s much-awaited film War, Ayushman Khurranna’s Dream Girl on the anvil. Then, of course, there are multi-starrers Housefull 4 and Salman’s Dabangg 3 that have also generated a lot of excitement among the cine-goers.
