MUMBAI: This week’s releases: Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Aatma’ as well as the Jackky Bhagnani starrer ‘Rangrezz’ have both failed to pick up the pace over the weekend.
Both films opened to poorer than poor responses at the Box office, on Friday. As reported, ‘Aatma’ directed by Suparn Verma and produced by Wide Frame Pictures managed a very weak day 1 collection of Rs 16.5 million (1.65 crore) net. This, despite some heavy duty promotions by Bipasha Basu, and the screening of a paid preview on Thursday.
So far, ‘Aatma’ has failed to live up to the expectations, unlike Bipasha Basu’s last attempt at horror, ‘Raaz 3’, which fared very well at the ticketing windows.
The 3 day total business of the film is in the range of Rs 54.5 million (Rs 5.45 crore) net. The business continues to be quite dull across the country, with notable revenues coming in only from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Vashu Bhagani’s film ‘Rangrezz’ too, starring his son Jackky Bhagnani and Priya Anand among others, has fared sadly at the box office. As reported, the day 1 collections of ‘Rangrezz’ were a dull Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore) net. The 3 day total of the film is about Rs 37 million (Rs 3.7o crore ) net a very dismal figure indeed.
As expected, the future looks terribly bleak for both films, which have failed miserably in opening weekend itself.
