MUMBAI: This week, two films from diverse genres have hit the marquees: David Dhawan’s comic caper ‘Chashme Baddoor’ and Luke Kenny’s horror film ‘Rise of the Zombie’.
David Dhawan’s remake of the 1980’s cult classic ‘Chashme Buddoor’, his ‘Chashme Baddoor’ hit theatres 5 April 2013. The film, produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, starring Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma and Taapsee, took a fair start on Day 1.
‘Chashme Baddoor’ opened with collections of Rs 54 million (5.4 crore net). This is quite good for a film with no major A-lister. The film understandably did better in multiplexes rather than single screens.
The second film up for release this week, director Luke Kenny and Devaki Singh’s zombie thriller, ‘Rise of the Zombie’ however, received a very poor response at the ticketing windows.
