MUMBAI: Eros International and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq has done a net business of Rs 420 million (Rs 42 crore) in India in its opening week. The movie was released worldwide on 3 July.
According to Eros International, Kambakkht Ishq grossed Rs 210 million (Rs 21 crore) from the overseas market and an additional Rs 100 million (Rs 10 crore) from music and digital platforms.
Eros International senior vice president distribution – India Nandu Ahuja said, "Kambakkht Ishq been received remarkably well by audiences and remained steady during the week post the stupendous opening weekend. The film continuous to show fabulous collections across key centers like Delhi, Agra, Dehradun with over 90% collections through the week; 98% collections for five days in a row in prime theatres like Rajmandir in Jaipur; over 70% collections at Inox forum in Calcutta; 70% at all the seven multiplexes in Gurgaon; 90% plus in Amritsar, Ludhiana; 60% plus at PVR, Cinemax in Mumbai and 90% plus at Prasad multiplex in Hyderabad."
Eros International president – distribution (Europe & Africa) Pranab Kapadia added, "Kambakkht Ishq is doing exceedingly well in all the overseas markets. All major markets like the US, Gulf States, Australia, Fiji and even Pakistan have shown extraordinary box office for first week and very positive audience word of mouth especially with the international stars in special appearances."
Kambakkht Ishq stars Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in the lead and has been directed by Saabir Khan.
