Box Office: Last Two Weeks Termed As Black Friday; 2 States Stands Rock Solid

2 states mainFrom the past two weeks, all the films have fallen flat at the Box Office barring 2 States which is going strong and has almost made it to the 100 crore club.

April 25, 2014 saw three films, Revolver Rani, Kaanchi and Samrat and Co. while May 02, 2014 had films like Angry Young Man, Kahin Hai Mera Pyaar, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore and Purani Jeans hit the silver screen.

Now all these films have shown poor collections at the Box Office barring Revolver Rani as it had a very positive buzz thanks to Queen; but then even Revolver Rani could not garner great collections and looks like it would be a loosing proposition like all the rest of the films.

If one is optimistic then one could look at Angry Young Man, Kahin Hai Mera Pyaar, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore collecting just about Rs 5 million (Rs. 50 lacs) nett each in its first week at the Box Office and Purani Jeans would barely manage to collecting just over Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore ) nett at the Box Office in its first week, though chances look very bleak.

On the other hand Subhash Ghai isn’t saddened by the Box Office failure of Kaanchi and says that he is happy that he made a good film.

“We should accept victory and defeat with the same amount of happiness with which the film is made. You should be sad when you didn’t give it your best or didn’t work hard enough. Ups and downs are a part of life. But I am happy that I made something good, never mind if it didn’t work.” stated Subhash Ghai.

However 2 States that released on April 18, 2014 is still raking in monies at the Box Office and it is just a matter of days that it would enter the 100 crore club.

May 09, 2014 will see films like Hawaa Hawaai, Khwaabb, Kochadaiiyaan, Koyelaanchal, Manjunath, Mastram and Yeh Hai Bakrapur ready to face the heat at the Box Office.
