Kabir Khan’s ‘Phantom‘ has been in the limelight due to many controversies surrounding it. The film has hit the screens smoothly, and has also surpassed its first weekend on screens. The movie ‘Phantom‘ stars actors Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, and the story revolves around the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The hard hitting film on its first day, i.e. Friday collected Rs 8.20 crore (82 million) net approx. With a decent start, the movie collected more in the metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Along with a steady start, the weekend was bound to collect more because of the holiday falling on Saturday due to the occasion of Raksha bandhan.
After a not so huge start on Friday, the film witnessed strong growth and expansion on the second day of its release i.e. Saturday. The film collected Rs 12.70 crore (127 million) net approx. The film managed to pull the crowd on Saturday because of the holiday which proved to be an advantage. In totality, ‘Phantom’ managed to collect Rs. 20.90 crore (209 million) net approx. in two days. The collection was quite impressive given its slow start.
Coming to the third day of its release i.e. Sunday, the Katrina-Saif starrer movie collected Rs. 12.10 crore (121 million) net approx. The weekend collection of the Kabir Khan directorial film is Rs. 33 crore (330 million) net approx.
Even with an impressive star cast, the first day collection fell short of its predicted expectations, however the holiday of Saturday covered up for the same. With Rs. 33 crore net approx., the film has managed to bag the title of being the 7th biggest weekend earner of the year as of now.
Not only has the star cast of the film managed to pull crowds, Kabir Khan’s successful history with Bajrangi Bhaijaan is also cited to be one of the reasons for its success. Now how does the film fare in its coming week is yet to be seen.
