Bradley Cooper Replaces Jude Law In ‘Jane Got A Gun’

MUMBAI: Hollywood ‘Hangover’ star Bradley Cooper has replaced actor Jude Law as the lead villain in upcoming  ‘Jane Got a Gun’ featuring Natalie Portman.

Reports say that after director Lynne Ramsay abruptly walked away from the film, Law followed suit.  Apparently Jude was keen on working only with Ramsay.

Producer Scott Steindorff claimed that Ramsay did not turn up for work on the first day of shoot on 18 March, 2013. Thus a new director had to be brought in. Now, ‘Jane Got A Gun’ will be helmed by Gavin O’Connor, known for ‘Warrior’ (2011).

Apparently, when Law walked out too, the crew began looking for a replacement – someone who holds the same amount of draw in the overseas marketplace. Bradley Cooper, who was recently  nominated at the Oscars in the Best Actor category for ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ was the team’s choice.

‘Jane Got a Gun’ follows the story of a farmer’s wife (Natalie Portman) whose outlaw husband returns home, bloodied and near death after his gang (lead by Bradley Cooper) turns on him. When the miscreants reappear to finish the job, Jane must enlist the help of an old flame (Joel Edgerton) to defend her life and home.

Bradley is set to play a character named Bishop.

He is currently filming for David O Russell’s untitled project based on the real life Abscam sting of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Other than that, Bradley Cooper will soon be seen in ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’ and ‘The Hangover Part III’.

  • VOTE: Is Sunday Release For ‘Krrish 3’ A Good Idea?

VOTE: Is Sunday Release For ‘Krrish 3’ A Good Idea?

MUMBAI: Setting a new tradition, the threequel of Bollywood’s much loved science fiction and superhero franchise – ‘Krrish 3’ starring Hrithik Roshan is likely to release on a Sunday rather than the conventional Friday.

The reason behind breaking away from the long established norm of releasing on a Friday?

The Roshans have targetted November 3, 2013 for ‘Krrish 3’, which is when the entire country celebrates the festival of lights – Diwali. It is the day when worship to the Goddess Laxmi is undertaken.

Confirmed filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, “November 3 is an auspicious day, so we’re releasing ‘Krrish 3’ on that day.”

However while the makers of the film feel its advantageous to release on the favourable day, some exhibitors of the film are not very optimistic about the decision. Roshan Singh, a prominent exhibitor of Bihar said: “It’s a known fact that people don’t see films on Diwali day, at least not in North India. Diwali is restricted to spending time with the family and relatives. With due respects to Rakeshji, the film will lose out completely on the crucial Friday and Saturday collections, and there will be thin attendance in Sunday when ‘Krrish 3’ opens, in many parts of the country.”

‘Krrish 3’ will continue the story of the gifted Rohit Mehra and his superhero son ‘Krrish’, after the events that took place in of ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’ and ‘Krrish’. The film also features Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi, Kangna Ranaut, Arif Zakaria and Shaurya Chauhan.

Salman Khan’s Appeal Against Revision Charges In Hit-And-Run, Postponed

MUMBAI: Monday, Salman Khan’s lawyers were to argue the revision charges against the Bollywood actor in the the 2002 hit-and-run case at a Sessions Court. The court, here has once again postponed the hearing to April 29, 2013.

The application submitted by Khan challenges a Magistrate Court’s order which enhanced the charges levelled against the actor from death by negligence to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Sources revealed that today Salman Khan was not summoned to appear. Only after deciding the appeal, the main case would be heard.

Salman has contended that the magistrate’s decision of invoking Section 304 part II is s “erroneous, bad in law and contrary to evidence on record.” The punishment for culpable homicide attracts a maximum imprisonment of upto ten years. Previously, Salman was charged for causing death by negligence (section 304 A IPC), which provides a maximum punishment of upto two years of imprisonment.

After examining 17 witnesses, the magistrate transferred the case to the Sessions court for retrial.

In 2002, on September 28, Salman Khan allegedly rammed his Toyota Land Cruiser outside a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing one person and injuring four other people, who were sleeping on the pavement.

  • ‘Chennai Express’ Has Fantastic Comedy: Shah Rukh Khan

‘Chennai Express’ Has Fantastic Comedy: Shah Rukh Khan

VANCOUVER: Bollywood superstar, international icon – Shah Rukh Khan is a busy man lately. Not only do his acting and production commitments keep him occupied, but the recently kickstarted Indian Premier League (IPL) 6th Edition too has SRK super engaged. But he is managing it all pretty well.

One lesson, he says, he has learnt of late is to talk about his new projects only at the right time.

“We are making ‘Chennai Express’ and then there is another film called ‘A for Apple, B for Billi, C for Cutta’ (ABC). Two others are in the pipleline, but I would like to keep it a secret till the right time,” said Khan in an interview on the sidelines of the maiden edition of the Times Of India Film Awards (TOIFA) here

SRK says he picks his films instinctively, but he is especially happy with Rohit Shetty’s “Chennai Express” as he believes it is a comedy, action and entertainment-packed project “different” from the intense and serious films he has done in the recent past.

“I do films which I like at a given point of time and as and when I get the opportunity. So when Rohit narrated a couple of films to me two years back, one was the remake of ‘Angoor’ and other was ‘Chennai Express’. I like both of them. But Rohit felt he would like to do the latter one first as it is a bigger film and has fantastic comedy, action and amazing songs,” explains the actor.

The film, produced by the actor’s wife Gauri Khan under their production banner Red Chillies Entertainment, features Deepika Padukone opposite King Khan. Shah Rukh is, of course, happy with the way the movie is shaping up, revealing that he injured his right shoulder while shooting for the film.

“It’s awkward for me to speak of film that I produce, but I just have to say that Rohit has done me great favour while making a film like this for me. It’s fun and I am enjoying it. Yes, I end up doing very intense films like ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ , ‘Chak De! India’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’, and so, it (‘Chennai Express’) is a nice change for me. May be I would continue doing films like ‘Chennai Express’ in future,” he said.

  • Sanjay Dutt Seeks Mercy By Review Petition

Sanjay Dutt Seeks Mercy By Review Petition

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has been convicted by the Honorable Supreme Court for 5 years of imprisonment in relation to the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, is to move the apex court by way of a review petition.

In its March 21 judgement, the SC held Dutt guilty under the Arms Act for possessing an AK-56 and an automatic rifle. But the court acquitted him under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act [TADA], which had also been invoked against him.

A legal team based in Delhi has prepared the petition which is likely to be filed within this week before the same bench who awarded the actor the sentence.

Dutt will contend in the petition that a confession made under TADA cannot form the main piece of evidence for offences under other Acts, when the accused is acquitted under TADA.

The actor’s team of lawyers will plead for reconsideration of the three-judge bench judgment in the Rajiv Gandhi killer case, which held that a confession under TADA would be valid even elsewhere and which the SC had relied on in the 1993 blasts case against Sanjay Dutt.
