Birdman, starring Michael Keaton, took home the top prize of Outstanding Motion Picture Cast at the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on 25th January 2015, Sunday. Birdman‘s ensemble cast had defeated in competition the casts of Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Gameand, and The Theory of Everything. The film is based on the life of actors in showbiz and its appeal had touched one and all! The Producers Guild Awards held on 24th January 2015, Saturday, had also sung lavish praises for the film. Many of the members of these two industry guilds also vote for the Oscars, and hence, Birdman is expected to steal the show at the most coveted Oscar as well.

Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is American dark comedy film that released in 2014. It was co-written, produced, and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. It stars Michael Keaton, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts. Michael Keaton plays a Hollywood actor who was once famous for his superhero role, but is struggling for work today.
Birdman was received well by the critics and it was recognized as one of the best films of 2014 by the AFI and the National Board of Review. It was nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards at the 72nd ceremony, including the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Score and won awards for Best Screenplay. Keaton won an award for the Best Actor, while Norton and Stone were nominated for Best Supporting Actors male and female, respectively at both the Golden Globe Awards.
