CANNES: Fashion’s fickle friend Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has finally got it right at Cannes. After a series of false starts, involving a ghastly white Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla embroidered white anarkali kurta slash gown, and an over-the-top black Sabyasachi Mukherjee sari, the most beautiful woman in the world has finally pulled out an ace up her sleeve, quite literally!
Last night, Mrs. Bachchan was spotted on the red carpet of the prestigious film festival in a light teal off-shoulder Gucci Premiere gown. Gone was the messy, middle-parted bed hair and done-to-death smoky eyes. In its place, Aishwarya chose a high chignon and light eye makeup, with a hint of colour in pop pink lipstick.
Aishwarya was attending the screening of ‘Behind the Candelabra’, and we were happy to note her style was spot on.
After the film festival, Aishwarya will reportedly extend her stay at Cannes to attend the AMFAR event for AIDS research. She will also be part of the auction, the proceeds from which will go towards AIDS research.
After Cannes, the globe-trotting beauty will head towards London, to attend Madonna and Beyonce’s mega charity concert next month. She will be joined there by hubby dearest Abhishek, and will be a celebrity presenter at the ‘Chime for Change’ event on 1 June in London. The concert is aimed at raising funds and awareness for women’s rights and empowerment around the world.
