‘Demolition’ starring actor Jake Gyllenhaal has been eyed by everyone in the industry as a probable Oscar contender. And with the release of the official trailer of the film, the anticipation has certainly reached sky high. An interesting script tailored by the skilled direction of Oscar winner film ‘Dallas Buyer’s Club’s’ director, Jean-Marc Vallée, ‘Demolition’s‘ trailer gives us a brief idea of what the film is about.
Penned by Bryan Sipe, the story of the film sees a successful investment banker named Davis Mitchell played by actor Jake Gyllenhaal. After losing his wife in a tragic car accident, Davis finds himself writing letters to the customer service representatives of a vending machine company. What starts off as a complaint about a broken vending machine turns into a series of personal confessions made by Davis which is read by Karen Moreno who then decides to help Davis out in his tough time.
The trailer of the film shows how a grief stricken widowed husband sets out on a journey to redeem himself and find out where his life leads him. In order to do so, he decides that demolition of his past life is the first step towards his future. Thus the title ‘Demolition’, which is made pretty clear by how Jake destroys all the memories of his wife that haunt him after her untimely death. Child artist Judah Lewis plays the role of Naomi Watt’s son in the film and the trailer shows a special bond between him and Jake.
‘Demolition’ will be releasing this September as the opening act of this year’s prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. The film is slated for release on April 8, 2016 in United States. The film also stars actor Chris Cooper playing the role of Jake’s frightening father-in-law. Produced by Black Label Media, ‘Demolition’ is distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures.
