OMG! Two Killed In A Plane Crash On Tom Cruise’s Set


Hollywood actor Tom Cruise‘s upcoming film ‘Mena‘ has faced a major blow after two were killed in a plane crash on the film’s set recently. The unfortunate incident took place in Medellin, Colombia on Friday leaving the pilot and an accomplice dead on the spot. The third victim of the crash who suffered serious injuries was immediately taken to the nearest hospital. As reports confirm, Tom Cruise was not on board the plane when the mishap took place.

The deceased pilot has been identified as a renown American film pilot Alan David Purwin and the passenger was Carlos Berl who was a Colombian. Person rushed to the hospital has been identified as American pilot, Jimmy Lee Garind and no further reports have been made of his current condition. Purwin was well known for his work in films like ‘Transformer‘, ‘Pearl Harbor‘ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ giving his aerial expertise to the film’s ‘crew’.

According to the reports, the cause of the crash was bad weather and uncontrolled turbulence after the take off. ‘Mena‘s’ distributors, Universal films have come forward and given a statement expressing their grief over the matter. A spokesperson stated, “An aircraft carrying crew members crashed while returning to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellin following production wrap on the film ‘Mena’ resulting in two fatalities. Further details are not available at this time. On behalf of the production, our hearts and prayers go out to the crew members and their families at this difficult time.”

Tom Cruise starrer ‘Mena‘ is an action thriller film based on the life of Barry Seal – a former TWA pilot who became a drug smuggler working for Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He later became a spy for the DEA. Written by Gary Spinelli, the film is being directed by Doug Liman. It stars actors Tom Cruise as Barry Seal, Sarah Wright as Lucy Seal, Jayma Mays, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Frank Licari, and Alex Quarles as Tom Cruise’s son.
