Michael Jace who is best know for The Shield, shot his wife April Jace, and then called his father-in-law to inform about the incident.
In the three-minute call, the father of April Jace told a dispatcher that his son-in-law had called and texted him about the shooting.
The father in law said: “Jace called and texted me. He asked me to get their kids because he shot April, our daughter.”
Apparently, during the phone call, Michael Jace was already driving towards the residence of the couple. Michael and April have two young children. April had another older son from previous marriage. April Jace was a financial aid counselor at Biola University.
There is a 911 recording released by the Fire Department of Los Angeles, that Jace called him to take care of their children. The recording was released June 05, 2014.
Michael Jace was charged with one count of murder with a gun for killing his wife of ten years. Michael Jace‘s attorneys Jason Sias and Jamon Hicks did not comment on the content of the audio, but noted that the case is relatively new and they were still investigating.
Michael Jace, who played a police officer on the television series The Shield, was arrested on May 19, 2014 and police have said he also called 911 directly to report that he had shot his wife.
Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting but previously said they were investigating whether it was prompted by financial difficulties or other marital problems. Michael Jace had filed for bankruptcy in 2011 and had fallen behind on payments to creditors as recently as December 2013.
Michael Jace also appeared on the show Southland, and had small roles in the movies Planet Of The Apes, Boogie Nights and Forrest Gump.
